Yes, that sound a great idea to have a double celebration. Less of 'falling and shattered is good!" Looking forward to more updates and ideas. YX

speeding signs have disappeared now, but a good idea.  The ones that really work are the average ones on the motorway as it stopspeole just suddenly slowing down for the camera.  Not feasible as drivers can just turn off and avoid them but…

Kiss A Bird With Two Doves Season Of Double Flu

Love the rare species of competition I AM UP AGAINST, that's alright the other bird will have to move along make room for Kay's love nest of mixed breeding Doves.  Kssing two birds with one stone the blarney of fertility the spring is not too far away and not much chance of my flu going away. Jemima Khan nee Goldsmith has been in bed like myself, doing cold turkey with mum-flu, if she has her order stick as I do and BBM for honey and lemon, toilet roll and mountains of spring water the throat…See More

Very interesting Kay. I shall keep my eyes open for Stock Doves in my garden. I participated in the Garden watch at the weekend as well.

I'm pleased that Lidl lost their appeal against the pole & banner, but I hope they win their appeal about the windows. I had a good look all the windows above the shops in the High Street while I was shopping on Saturday, and I think the…

I quite like those flashing speed warning signs, it's too easy in a modern car to creep over the speed limit without realising it especially on a road that's either empty or with very little other traffic. Kay, you can be prosecuted…

Dawn at La Parisienne had a chat with her and a another WBA member, those wishing to set-up a stall please contact Dawn this week asap so that the planning can be put into place.  Will be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday.   Now then…

I wonder if anyone has done any research on what is more likely to keep people within the speed limit: 1) A conspicuous flashing reminder that you are speeding, or 2) No reminders, just a well-hidden speed camera and an expensive fine. Of course we…

STOCK DOVES

Some of you may know that it was the RSPB's Garden Birdwatch at the weekend.  Although we didn't see these birds at the weekend they were in our garden a couple of weeks ago.  Although at first glance they looked like feral pigeons, they are actually Stock Doves (columba oenas) and are larger than a collared dove but slightly smaller than a wood pigeon, both species being regular garden visitors. In nearly 46 years in our house, we have never seen Stock Doves in the garden and, in fact, they…See More

Local planning issues

I note that Lidl have lost their appeal against the planning rejection re the large pole and banner that they wanted to erect in Library Way. Will this be the end of this matter? I wonder. Also they have appealed to keep the Upvc window frames over the shop. The council wanted Crittal frames but Lidl have listed many precedents in the vicinity where the old metal frames have been replaced with Upvc. The decision is still awaited. And what about the planning decision for the demolition of…See More

Any chance of incorporating the Diamond Jubilee like they did for the Royal Wedding, hope so.  Keep us posted anyone with ideas. Makes sense for a double celebration, cost wise, planning and organising takes much to put together and some last…

It seems to me that flashing speed reminders are a very good idea indeed & the Local Authority are to be congratulated in introducing them. It is speed that is the biggest killer in urban areas. We have a duty to support any measures that…

I don't thinks so.  I think any reminder of this sort to drivers that they are speeding is a good thing.  Conversely, at times it would be a good thing to have a reverse system that tells people they are driving too slowly but, of…

So keeping this thread in check - the council are doing a lousy job with these stupid flashing speed reminders?

Hangover Entrepeneurs Overseas Will Only Support Dirty Mess For Britain Come On 'Responsible Capitalism' Burns Night

There is very little a Government can do when it comes to the wealthy not wanting to pay their taxes and the 50p tax rate but it does support good revenue for the Treasury however, this does not support long term revenue for our country if the far east have an influx of BIG BUSINESS.

'Responsible capitalism' Prime Minister David Cameron, he should have a word with Professor David McNally a Canadian expert on Capitalism. Curbing executive pay I'm sure most people in Great…

CONFIDENCE IS A BUILDING BLOCK (nothing without it)

CRITICISM IS A LIFE PROCESS (midlife crisis)

CREATIVE THOUGHT IS AN ENLIGHTENMENT (spare time)

Motherhood has no boundaries!!!!!!

There are messages to understand between the issues of ageism and women.  The female race receive much critical response when aiming to achieve their potential and can be made difficult through the ageing process.

Sex ,Spies & Politicians Get Over It Age Has No limits

Confidence, Age and self worth a key factor to enjoying life.

I have no issue being called Christine Keeler, actually I would be honoured to meet the lady persecuted for a man's downfall and not much has changed today. However, my two hour session in the local hair Salon 'TONY's' ageism had no boundaries, I was made to feel like a million dollar woman without any sexist comments.

Confidence building and self esteem are very important and sadly today many young…

Anna Sourby, Conservative argues drill down to abolish the PCT bringing in these changes £20 billions worth of power that they have accountability.  Surely nobody is not in favour of saving the PCTs, NHS that is fit for purpose.

Bishops and other faith leaders taking a view on any issue with poverty, the benefit cap of £26,000 is fair, Bishops have not understood.  Politicians go into politics for the care of those living in poverty and deprivation, come spend a week with…
